I was so excited to see this photo below in Traditional Home’s March issue. I had written about David Trubridge’s Geometric Spheres before and I was happy to see them being used as lighting fixtures in Barry Dixon’s latest Greenspace, interior design project. It was a design show house that took place in McLean, VA that I didn’t get a chance to see, so I’m really glad to read about it here. I’m always struck by ways art can combine with design, for I think the two are integrable. This is a good example. Getting More with Your Money
These incredible origami images came to me through an email. They were originally created by Master Origami Artist, Won Park. He has made all of these from folding mostly one and in some cases two dollar bills (where noted). Origami is the ancient art of Japanese paper folding to create a representational image by folding a sheet of paper, without gluing, cutting or pasting. Photo-Realistic Portraiture
I didn’t post any portrait photography in my last post because mostly Nature and animals were highlighted as the best pictures but I think portraiture is much harder to capture in photography. I find it interesting that this artist, Korin Faught, uses photography as part of her creative process to manipulate and create just the right moody reference for her oil painted portraits. More portraits can be seen at the opening of her exhibition last summer in Los Angeles via Juxtapoz and at Lost In a Supermarket. I enjoy some of her work and it’s photo-realistic quality.
