I attended my sister’s baby shower yesterday at the M Street Bar and Grill in the St. Gregory Hotel. This “Forever Marilyn” Monroe statue by J. Seward Johnson greets you as you walk in the door. I never knew it was here and it was a pleasant surprise to see it. Wow — highly realistic and what a conversation piece. I love how the dress is strategically draped as to not reveal anything you shouldn’t see at eye level — just like the actual still photo from the 1954 movie, The Seven Year Itch. I’ve always liked Johnson’s work, particularly The Awakening.
Scrapbooks
As I read in the Washington Post Book World about a new book on Scrapbooking, I was reminded of how this creative pastime is much like a visual diary. As much as moleskin notebooks can be used for sketching and collecting memories, they, as well as other blank-sheet note books, can be used for the visual keepsake of scrapbooking. Casart™ Coverings
We have officially launched! It’s been nerve-wracking to finally get here but despite the butterflies in our stomachs we’re flying…My new product-line company, casart coverings, LLC is a partnership with my mother, Lorre Lei Jackson in New Orleans and my sister, Lindsey Wood in Denver. We have the regional parts of the nation covered, but we’re an Internet based business so we can reach the global network as well.
