St. Anne Beaupre Murals for Christmas
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all! I was stunned at how breathtaking these elaborate murals are by Frederic Doyon in the Basilica of St. Anne Beaupre in Quebec, Canada — perfect for sharing during this holiday season. Although, they have been removed from this post and are visible on Dan Beards’ Flickr stream.
Christmas Week
With just two days before Christmas, I thought I’d continue with a mix of Christmas oriented murals, wintry scenes and music. I usually don’t like modern murals with biblical or religious oriented murals, but these are very well done by Keith Goodson for Champions Church in Winter Haven, Florida. He seems to have found the right balance between realism and stylistic portrayal that appears alive and dynamic. Another Christmas-like mention for this week would have to be the cover of The Washington Post‘s Book World, which makes a comeback at this time annually, whereas it used to be a regular Sunday section feature but was dropped in 2009. The Kupa in Krakow
These beautiful ornamental murals can be found adorning the The Kupa Synagogue in Krakow, Poland. They are highly ornate and display great graphic design as well as wonderful use of trompe l’oeil with faux painted drapes and columns. I love all the colors that were used.
