Derby Day
There's a lot I could say about art regarding The Kentucky Derby, just by association of my family's Kentucky heritage and my very prolific artistic Aunt but the Derby, specifically, is Louisville's sophisticated Mardi Gras — meaning lots of eccentric stuff happens — even with all the upper crust fancy hats to be seen on Derby Day. Eco Friendly Furniture
Every now and then, I’m struck by something different when doing an everyday activity. I discovered PIE Studio through one of my Linkedin groups’ discussions, where we were all introducing ourselves. I clicked on the link and was pleasantly taken by surprise. It happened to be Earth Day, so the index to PIE’s (Product Import Export) site was very appropriate and I thought clever, and even humorous. This persuaded me to peruse their site. Some Healing in Haiti
The earthquake in Haiti rocked everyone. It was so tragic and still is because there has not been much relief for this already poor and downtrodden country. The process for recovery is so slow. However, when I saw this story about art helping business in Haiti it brought a little bright spot of hope for some progression. The Haitian people are familiar with these brightly painted buses and to see them back again signals some sign of recovery with the business of painting buses, as small and as mundane as that seems in comparison to other dire necessities needed.
