Artistry in the High School Graduation Delivery
I just returned from my younger son’s high school graduation. It was a bit stressful and emotional but I was pleasantly surprised in how seriously touching the event was among the teachers and kids. This all came by the heartfelt delivery from teachers and students and participants in this right-of-passage ceremony. The first event, The Angies’s was a roast that the teachers give to each of the Senior students. The teachers sing, dance and read poetry to their advisees. Practical Painting
I read in interesting story in my local newspaper (Washington Post) about a teenage artist who had painted a 4 x 21 foot mural at his high school as a reaction (and with encouragement from his art teacher) to the assassination of President Kennedy. He was 17 at the time at The Washington Lee School. As John Kelly's article states, typically high school murals are painted directly on the walls and do not survive renovation. Luckily and wisely, Jon Friedman, the muralist painted his mural on sturdy paper. Photopainting
I've been experimenting a lot with Photoshop lately as I purchased a Wacom pen tablet. This enables me to draw right into the program. It doesn't feel natural to me yet and doesn't quite give the look that I would like to achieve that I am used to from traditional painting but it does allow tremendous versatility and can separate the image into layers as it is created and these layers can be custom manipulated with color and just about anything else that produces multiple variations.
