    I must have books on my mind because that is what I try to catch up on while on vacation. Lately, I’ve been getting audiobooks through audible because I can listen while doing other things but I have hard copies to read. So what to do with them once I return? We have so many books that I make my husband take any that he’s never going to use again down to the used books thrift store, every time he buys new books. Storage is a commodity where we live.     Sketchers

    I love to sketch and I do draw a lot of artwork for my business. I just haven’t had the time to do a lot of sketching lately. Ideally, I should be doing at least one sketch a day. I was inspired to get back into it and while on vacation when I saw the blog Urban Sketchers. This is fantastic! It’s not just urban sites but sketches of all different locations, for example: a view of the cabin while seated inside an airplane, people at a concert, landscapes and buildings and the First International Portland Urban Sketchers Symposium (I’m glad to know about this).     Bookish Murals

    Libraries are not only wonderful, calm places to read and explore books, but also to see murals. Here’s one in the Earlscourt Library in Toronto. This is an incredible story because the murals, originally painted by Doris McCarthy in 1932, were painted over during a renovation. The locals remembered the original murals and how much delight they brought. They raised $12,000 to uncover just one mural. Today the entire set of murals can be seen thanks to $2.54 million restoration. Lesson: “modernization” shouldn’t forget intrinsic value.
