    Artistic Dresses

    December 14, 2009 /

Looking for a one of a kind holiday dress? Although I was unfamiliar with the Weisser Glass Studio and Gallery in Kensington, MD I’m glad I know about it now. Wow, how incredible is this, Autumn Sunset Kimono by Marko & Norris?! It’s made of woven glass. Amazing. Here’s a silent video that gives a visual snippet to help show their artistic process: If I could afford a piece, I’d probably purchase the Ice Babies from their Nest Babies™ collection. Something about the colors are calming and contradictory with an ice climate for hatching eggs. The dichotomy speaks to me. Their work is truly innovative and beautiful. The testimonies on…

    Waterfall Art

    December 11, 2009 /

I have posted about Olafur Eliasson before but had this song about waterfalls in my head (below) so wanted to link to it and tie in with my previous post on Falling Water. The New Your City Waterfalls are something to see if were in New York City this fall. The exhibition ended however on October 13th. I would have loved to have seen the height on this one in person. I just missed during my latest trip to NYC. Here’s a link to explain my recent visit to attend a design lecture giving by Mary Douglas Drysdale and in which some of our casart coverings were used in the…

Liu Bolin the Invisible Chinese Artist

    December 9, 2009 /

Liu Bolin is quite literally the invisible man in that he paints himself into his photo compositions and you have to look hard in some case, like the second to last photo, to find him. I thought this was a phenomenal new way to view trompe l’oeil. His work is in protest against the Chinese government, who shut down his studio in 2005 when the area with people’s homes was bulldozed to make ready for the Olympic Games. His work represents not fitting into the norm. I received this in an email so do not have a credit for all the photos but here is a resource. I’ve updated the…
