Walt Disney at NOMA
With the Saints in the news and now going to the Superbowl, all posts this week will just have to be about New Orleans in some way or another. Hey, not hard for me (previous posts on New Orleans). The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is featuring an exhibit of conceptual art from Walt Disney’s animated films called,“Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from the Walt Disney Studio.” It includes 600 sketches and animation stills from select films dating back more than seven decades. Historic Decor for the Season
I was impressed with what the designers created for the diplomacy rooms at the historic Blair House. Six life style, “shelter” magazines were called on for their help to design holiday themes for these estate rooms and then execute the decoration in a very short time span. Despite this being very tough times for the Design Industry, they pulled out all the stops. Martha Stewart, among others was there, snapping her own pictures, probably for her blog. Artichoke Arrangement
Some things only appear to be coincidental when, I believe, they are not. It’s been a year since my good friend’s husband, Nathaniel, has passed away. This happens to be on my mother’s birthday. She happened to write a wonderful blog post on Artichokes last Friday on our Slipcovers for Your Walls blog. Artichokes happened to be some of Nathaniel’s favorite foods. We commented at a dinner once that we both liked them when others did not. I’ve always liked the way they looked so I painted one for a casart coverings.
