The House That Faux Built is not only a book but a project involving over 100 decorative artists, who used their talents with decorative and faux finishes as well as trompe l’oeil and murals to transform a dilapidated Arlington, VA town home into an incredible show place. The project was a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. This is a great resource for any do-it-yourselfer or artist.

My husband and I were concerned after damage to our faux painted walls that we really loved that we would not find someone who could repair and replicate the walls.  The walls existed before we moved in to the house so we had no idea who had done the work.  We made an appointment with Ashley Spencer of Casart coverings and I can’t tell you how lucky we were to find her.  Ashley looked at the wall, said she could do the repair and now that it is done, it is impossible to tell that it isn’t the original work.  Every aspect of her work was professional, timely and beautiful.  We have already talked about having Ashley do a couple of more projects for us when we do some renovations in the near future.  I totally recommend Ashley’s work.

I absolutely love what you did on the dining room wall–the pearlized stripe. I think it looks really good and especially it seems like in the evening when there’s no natural light on it, it really does take on a brownish or tannish hue. I just really love it. I’m more pleased than I even thought I would be. I just wanted to say thank you again…I’ll certainly pass your name onto others who might be interested in that kind of decorative artwork.

The ready-made fireplace I ordered for my living room remodel was not the color I had expected when it was delivered and installed.  I was referred to Ashley and contacted her for help in selecting and applying a base coat and glaze.  She keenly selected the paint and glaze colors and style of distressed finish that gave me the mantel I had wanted.  Her work is exceptional and she knows how to work with her clients well. — Theresa

When the contractor completed a total remodel of my spa bathroom, almost everything  was perfect – except something was missing from the walls.  I felt the walls needed some sort of finish, but wasn’t sure what to select.  I was fortunate to have been refereed to Ashley!  She selected a finish that complimented the rich stone and porcelein tile and applied it flawlessly to the walls.  My spa bathroom is now complete and I love it.  Ashley was so easy to work with and made the process effortless for me.
