Geometric Spheres
I think David Trubridge’s designs of spheres, lighting fixtures and furniture are very cool. They are geometrically modern and functional sculptures that refer to themes of nature. I’ve seen his work in Design Within Reach but ran across this in depth article regarding his creative process on Seeds and Fruit blog, which I found very informative. I see a raindrop in this one: I could use this Dondola rocking lounger this week, but there is no time to rest, unfortunately. I’m back on site work today. This float looks so relaxing: I just happened to write about other geometric designs on Slipcovers for Your Walls.
Art Apps
Happy Columbus Day! It’s a work day for me and a lot of people. but I can at least think of non-work…. I’m gonna get this Brushes iPhone App for my iPod touch. I can’t promise my art will be as good but what a great way to practice. This is an interesting video of iPhone art by Jorge Columbo: Coincidentally, I posted a blog post today for Slipcovers for Your Walls (casartblog) regarding Mac Apps for selecting color.

Art4Others…Art with Heart
In 2006 I was involved with a group of talented decorative artists and artisans who gave freely of their time to transform a house, under the guide of Adrienne VanDooren, who founded the concept for The House That Faux Built. It was a big success, the first of its kind and a wonderful coffee table type book was produced. All the proceeds went to funding the building of a home through Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans. Finally, the house has been fully funded and the construction has begun. Now artist can give back another way, by becoming involved in the onsite project and hosting events in their own hometown…
