Christmas Week
With just two days before Christmas, I thought I’d continue with a mix of Christmas oriented murals, wintry scenes and music. I usually don’t like modern murals with biblical or religious oriented murals, but these are very well done by Keith Goodson for Champions Church in Winter Haven, Florida. He seems to have found the right balance between realism and stylistic portrayal that appears alive and dynamic. Another Christmas-like mention for this week would have to be the cover of The Washington Post‘s Book World, which makes a comeback at this time annually, whereas it used to be a regular Sunday section feature but was dropped in 2009. A Little Floor Fun
Keeping with the floor design concept of the last post, here are some other ideas to really mix up your decor while thinking of the floor as a decorative element. This is a great, out of the box idea playing up on concentric circles from DeWorld. I just saw this one over the weekend at the Washington DC Design Center in their Design House, which is closing this week. This floor is by Kelley Proxmire. It’s based on a David Hicks design. Bacardi Mural & Being Back on the Mountain
I’ve just returned recently from a Homecoming Reunion at my university and it was so much fun visiting with everyone again. For some, it had been 25 years since we had seen each other. Although we’re older (and wiser, I hope), I’m happy to know that we still can enjoy a good time with a few drinks and dancing. With that in mind, I thought these Bacardi Murals in Miami by Francisco Brennand were worth posting and a nice juxtaposition between beach and mountain living, particularly since they express that vibrancy and joei de vivre found in both places.
