    Pictorial Fashion

    Life imitating art, or art influencing fashion? There were many examples of the latest apparel using pictorial images printed onto fabric in the Style section recently. Tops, dresses and scarves are being made with printed photos. I like this idea, maybe since I’m doing something similar with wall coverings.     The Longest Proposed Mural

    Michael Dingler of NoLA Rising is proposing to paint the flood wall along the 9th ward with a mural. If accepted it will be the longest mural in the world. This would not be a graffiti-style mural but wouldn’t guarantee against being tagged. Nothing is for that matter. Although, having painted public murals, Golden makes a top coat, anti-graffiti sealant (MSA) that protects the mural with an isolation coat. If it is tagged, the top coat can be removed without damaging the mural below the isolation coat. I’ve used this as an extra protective measure, just in case.     Personalizing Your Space

    I was immediately drawn by the title of this article, Home is Where the Art Is: Personal Connections are Vital in Your Living Space by Katherine Salant in the Washington Post. She states what we all know but are sometimes at a loss to explain, that to personalize your space is innate, human nature. She explains with real credibility why this is. Certain things remain fundamental about decorating your personal space: having a connection to the past, things that are handmade and certain shapes and forms withstand the test of time.
