Butterflies
I love butterflies, what can I say?! I like that bugs can be beautiful. There’s something odd about that dichotomy. Our casart coverings logo has the transformation of a butterfly from a prickly caterpillar to a beautiful Blue Morpho. It represents the life cycle’s transformation and beauty that can occur everyday, right under our noses. As it happens, butterflies are quite “in” these days in design, from jewelry, plates, lampshades, notecards, cachepots, fabric and even advertisements. Artists’ Portraits & in Action
These looks like interesting exhibits at the National Portrait Gallery, Reflections/Refractions: Self Portraiture in the Twentieth Century and at the National Gallery of Art (NGA, as I call it), Artists Caught in the Act and Heaven on Earth. I like this self-portrait below by Julius Brawley and its exquisite detailed rendering in graphite on paper. There is also a self portrait by Chuck Close, a contemporary artist who I really admire.
