Walt Disney at NOMA
With the Saints in the news and now going to the Superbowl, all posts this week will just have to be about New Orleans in some way or another. Hey, not hard for me (previous posts on New Orleans). The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is featuring an exhibit of conceptual art from Walt Disney’s animated films called,“Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from the Walt Disney Studio.” It includes 600 sketches and animation stills from select films dating back more than seven decades. The Good Life
Feeling a little nostalgic when I ran across this, I think this is a nice compilation of classic entertainment scenes to the music, The Good Life by Tony Bennett but also sung by Frank Sinatra. However I don’t think it is either of these singing this version. If you want a more bluesy, modern version to Kick-Start Your Weekend I’d go with Love and Happiness, originally by Al Green but sung here by Marc Broussard. Home, is my favorite of his songs. He’s an incredibly soulful singer and really kicks it out toward the end of this.
Impossible Animation?
This fascinating short animated film, Pigeon Impossible came my way. I’m impressed with Lucas Martell’s film making, technical ability and creativity and sense of humor. Very clever, particularly with simple things captured like the movement of Agent Becket’s hand when opening the briefcase and the pigeon pecking had me laughing, as the typical behavior of pigeons goes. Now, I’m wondering about the Washington Monument (watch the film and you’ll see what I mean).
