Performance Art on the Plinth
A new ongoing performance art project has started for the people of UK called One & Other, where everyday until October 14th participants can submit photos as living portraits that will occupy the vacant Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in London. If your submission is drawn, you’ll also gain a performance spot on the Plinth. This pedestal has been reserved for statues of kings and generals but it is currently empty — unless you want to fill with your own creation. Here’s a fantastic painting of Quinces by Jeffery Smart. And the cover of the book is equally as splendid — a feast for the eyes! That rooster’s tail feathers could be angel hair pasta. Design in Melbourne
I ran across this blog a while back called The Design Files. I was struck by one of the American artists who she profiled, Chelsea James. She had first been seen on Design Sponge. Her work is wonderful. I find it a bit mysterious with masterful execution. Just look at how real this plastic bag looks. I really enjoy her painting series on shoes.
