FotoWeek DC
Events for the second annual FotoWeek DC Competition are taking place this week through November 14th. It should be interesting. I hope I get to view a few exhibits. The photography by amateurs and professionals, from 3500 entries, Some of those amateurs may well be on a professional track afterwards. Here’s the FotoWeek link for details, but I find it a bit confusing so here’s a more user-friendly guide from Michael O’Sullivan in the Washington Post. Here are just a few samples. There are so many I like but this one seems fitting in the pumpkin patch, now that Halloween is past and November is upon us. I particularly like the quote on their website from The Washington Post: “The snooterati love to pooh…

Larry Sabato lives in this stately pavilion and was awarded these living quarters due to his academic tenure. He is the Robert Kent Gooch Professor of Politics and director of the university’s Center for Politics. It’s a prestigious location and it was interesting to learn how the residential honor comes and goes to those living in this “Academical Village.” I’ve long been impressed by the grand architecture at UVA. Although it’s historically preserved,…
