    Conversations @ Dancing on YouTube

    July 27, 2009 /

OK, you may have seen the wedding video of the attendants and bride and groom dancing their way down the aisle on YouTube. I thought it was pretty cool too, especially the faux Slow Mo part (which the news clips seem to leave out). What I’m more fascinated by is the viral wave that took over after it was posted (July 19th). The couple was featured on Good Morning America; there was a story about it the Washington Post and they were featured on ABC’s Nightly News that night (July 24th). That’s pretty crazy. If they aren’t publicists they should be. The conversation came up about this at dinner that…

After Hours & Behind the Scenes at Museums

    July 24, 2009 /

Museums are an obvious place to find art but not in this way. Several DC museums are open after hours on specific nights and times. This is the second year the museums have joined the ranks of nightlife clubs and it’s a popular thing. Tickets sell out in advance. Here’s the story, Mingling at the Museum, with the details of which museums are participating their website links. If you’re looking for more artwork that’s not usually on view, try going behind the scenes. Many museums have archived artwork in storage that can be viewed, as seen as an example here at the New York Historical Society. You don’t have to…

    Unseen Michael Jackson Mural

    July 22, 2009 /

Artist Kent Twitchell painted a massive mural of Michael Jackson many years ago but it has never been unveiled to the public. He was hoping to hang it on a 20′ high wall in L.A. in commemoration of Jackson’s death but it still waits in storage. It’s photographically realistic but is made of 150 hand painted panels. The LA Times article describes the process that was involved for creating the mural and the video link shows a recent story from ABC News.
