    All Around Art

    Happy Columbus Day! This should be a holiday but I’m working… Congratulations to Jaimie Gili, the winner for the Maine Center for Creativity’s, Art All Around™ contest, which I posted back in May in Unusual Places for Art. Here is the press release alerting me to the outcome. I’m looking forward to seeing the results in 2011. I hope to fly back to Maine (see previous mention) by then.  He has derived his inspiration from 50’s, 60’s & 70’s abstract, optical art in Venezuela.     Beautification

    I am so pressed for time that I don’t have time to write anything for today, so I’ll post an article that Marty DeVine wrote for the Alexandria Times, regarding the Beautification Awards given by the City of Alexandria, VA this past Wednesday evening. My neighborhood school, Jefferson Houston, where I painted a 50 foot long mural on multiple panels, received the only public school award for beautification.     Golden Girl +

    I’m excited about the new James Bond Movie, Quantum of Solace. Seeing this post from the DailyMail below made me remember all the previous Bond films and how I’d watch them growing up and watched them with my own family. This picture is eerie, but also artistic in the sense that one can actually see the application and the creative process of how that goo got all over that Golden girl gone oily for the latest movie. I like how they referred back to the original Goldfinger, in set-up, placement of figure and slick covering — but in this case with a more gruesome, updated Oilfinger version. Also,  Mathieu Almaric,…
