Getting More with Your Money
These incredible origami images came to me through an email. They were originally created by Master Origami Artist, Won Park. He has made all of these from folding mostly one and in some cases two dollar bills (where noted). Origami is the ancient art of Japanese paper folding to create a representational image by folding a sheet of paper, without gluing, cutting or pasting. Here’s more of his origami, since he doesn’t appear to have his own web page. On a side note, while keeping money in mind, there are many sources out there to donate to Haiti and the relief effort going on there but we’ve donated to the…
HDR Photography
I didn’t know much about High Dynamic Range type of photography and was glad to learn through the picture links below. The surrealistic, hyper saturation of color may not be for everyone but I’m pretty fascinated how a photo can look more like an illustration with this method. What first alerted me to HDR was this article about Joe DeGregorio’s photos. I really did think this was an illustration. Since I’m into trompe l’oeil art, I get a kick out of when I get tromped….. Finally, there’s more to see on Abduzeedo, and there are a lot of tutorials out there but these two had some good fundamental info: Ultimate…
Photo-Realistic Portraiture
I didn’t post any portrait photography in my last post because mostly Nature and animals were highlighted as the best pictures but I think portraiture is much harder to capture in photography. I find it interesting that this artist, Korin Faught, uses photography as part of her creative process to manipulate and create just the right moody reference for her oil painted portraits. More portraits can be seen at the opening of her exhibition last summer in Los Angeles via Juxtapoz and at Lost In a Supermarket. I enjoy some of her work and it’s photo-realistic quality. The Chinoiserie one above reminds me of Sargent’s painting, Repose, in style but…
